A small collection of papers related to John F. Kennedy's position on nuclear arms issues (1959) and his nomination for president in 1960. Included are letters about the exchange of nuclear arms information with NATO allies and the risk of nuclear proliferation; a letter from Kennedy to Massachusetts Secretary of State Joseph D. Ward officially accepting the nomination for president; the certification of his nomination; and correspondence related to the wording of names on the ballot, delegates to the Democratic National Convention, and presidential electors. Correspondents include John M. Lynch, chairman of the Massachusetts Democratic State Committee; U.S. Representative Harold D. Donohue; and U.S. Senator Leverett Saltonstall.

John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917, to Joseph P. Kennedy and Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy of Brookline, Massachusetts.
