WPA Historical Records Survey, Tucson, ca. 1929-1941.

Summary: This collection contains the survey records for the Works Progress Administration Historic Records Survey conducted in Tucson between 1937 and 1941. Record forms for each Pima County department or public program entailed a very brief outline of records located including dates, condition of the records, what indexing and organization was utilized, and an estimated total quantity present. No forms contain specific itemized descriptive listings as might be present in a modern catalog record. Survey records were made for Pima County public archives primarily located in the county courthouse. Two exceptions to this were surveys conducted of the Arizona Pioneer Historical Society (then located under the University Stadium on the University of Arizona campus) and the Southwestern Experimental Station also located on the University campus.
