Sherman Miller memoir, 1941-1945.

Collection includes Sherman Miller's memoir, "The Army Life of Sherman Miller, 1941-1945." Miller was an enlisted Soldier (airman) in the Army Air Corps and his experiences are described in considerable detail from his enlistment on 13 March 1940 through discharge on 5 September 1945. The memoir details basic training, air crew training (including training flight missions in the United States), and overseas duty in Africa and Italy. Miller's first combat mission was flown on 25 June 1943 and his unit remained in Italy until the end of the war. Combat missions included bombing missions in Italy, Germany, and Russia.

Master Sergeant (MSGT) Sherman Miller was sworn into the United States Army on 14 March 1941. He was assigned to the 44th Bombardment Group, the 66th Squadron of the Army Air Corps. He completed air crew training in Tampa, Florida; Seattle, Washington; Sacramento, California; Boise, Idaho; Walla Walla, Washington; Watertown, South Dakota and Tinker Field, Oklahoma.
