Collection consists of personnel documents for Warren Merritt and a letter from Merritt to his wife in 1944, letters to Evelyn Merritt regarding employment as a school teacher, and a series of photographs of Warren and Evelyn Merritt from World War II and the 1950s. The collection also includes a news clipping on Merritt's training with the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP) and his service member's New Testament.

Tech 4 Warren George Merritt was born on 11 November 1920 in White Plains, Georgia. He attended Georgia School of Technology (Georgia Tech) from 1937-1941, where he joined the Naval Reserve Officer's Training Corps. He left Georgia Tech without taking a degree and went to work for Glenn L. Martin (aircraft testing) in Baltimore. He married Evelyn Lane on 30 July 1942. Unit 3900 of the Army Specialized Training Program (ASTP) was established by the War Department at Oregon State College in March 1943. The program provided training for high grade technicians and specialists needed by the Army for the war effort. Most of the instruction was provided by regular Oregon State College faculty; E.B.
