1 v. and several photocopies of v. and lists of veterans of the Traverse City (Mich.) area. 1) 1 p. typed (photocopy) of Roster of Hannah (as in Hannah, Lay & Co.) Camp No. 23, Dec. 29, 1939, lists names of 65 men in alphabetical order by surname, of which 5 names are crossed out. 2) 5 p. typed list of men who served in the 34th Regiment, Michigan Infantry, U.S. Volunteers in the Spanish-American War, 1898, includes officers, musicians, privates, 6 noted as having died in 1898, and recruits, as well as dates the unit was mustered in/out, and encampments, as per C. J. Fuller, who must have compiled the list and dates. 3) United Spanish War Veterans, Hannah Camp No. 23, Dept. of Michigan [Descriptive Book?], 1906-1971 (photocopy), listing 42 members. Includes names of commanders, adjutants, enlisted men with name, occupation, date entered service, rank, company, regiment, or ship; date, place, and reason discharged; date entered Camp No. 23; county, state, and date of birth; nearest relative's name and address; signature of member; and remarks-date died, suspended, reinstated, dropped, or transferred. Location of original v. is unknown. 4) Original v. (and photocopy) of Grand Army of the Republic, McPherson Post No. 18 (Traverse City, Mich.), Dept. of Michigan, Descriptive Book, 1867-1927. V. lists membership number, name, age, place of birth, current residence and occupation; entry into service, including date, rank, company, and regiment; final discharge from service, including date, rank, company, and regiment; length of service; cause of discharge; date mustered into GAR; date honorably discharged, suspended, dropped, dismissed, or reinstated; nature of wounds received; when and in what engagement wounded; remarks-applied for pension, transferred, or died. This v. includes three lists of members, the original 221 members, a list of 277 members composed partially from the first 221 members and additional members, using their membership numbers, and a third list of 112 members, all with new membership numbers. A miscellaneous receipt is glued to the inside back cover. While the 34th Regiment was composed of men who enlisted in Traverse City, the Civil War and Spanish-American veterans of Traverse City include many who had served in many other state units and then moved to the Traverse City area later in life.
