A letter to Greene C. Bronson requests an appointment as Boarding Officer at the Quarantine Ground, Staten Island as it will give him leisure to pursue literary endeavors. With the letter is an engraving of Locke by A. Robin of New York. The collection also contains a letter from pastor's wife and abolitionist C. W. Brooks to Benjamin Bussey Thatcher concerning the Great Moon hoax by Locke.
