John Armstrong Chaloner papers [manuscript], 1898-1911.

Papers consist of a lengthy essay or letter, 1907; assorted correspondence including letters to or from Rose Kilmer Page, Adaline E. Jackson, Abbie G. Legg, Mary Stacha Young (Mignonette Cordoba) and other women seeking financial favors. Of interest is a letter "sent out surreptitiously" from the Manhattan State Hospital, 1898, to W.A. Hersey of the Brooklyn Eagle and letters to Geeorge Gordon Battle, 1898, from another patient. The collection also contains assorted clippings; bills and receipts; business correspondence, especially with F.H. Treacy of the Roanoke Rapids Machine Shops; and a letter from James Hervey Hyslop enclosing articles of incorporation for the American Institute for Scientific Research [of psychic phenomena].
