Including details regarding Charlottesville, Va., and the University of Virginia, debates on slavery by William Roane in Richmond, Va., story of her visit to Montpelier, Orange County, Va., comments on Baltimore, Md.; Philadelphia, Pa., New York, N.Y., and cotton manufacturing in Petersburg, Va., visit to Europe and return with her father, James Maury, U.S. Consul at Liverpool, England. With the diary are Maury family papers that include electrostatic copies of nine letters from Dolley Madison to Ann Maury, 1831 December 15 through 1836 October 9.
