John Breazeale was born in Brandon, Mississippi on January 1, 1926. He earned a B.S. from Millsaps College in 1947. and a M.S. degree from the University of Alabama in 1951. Breazeale was a National Science Foundation fellow and earned his Ph. D. in physics from the University of Virginia in 1955.
