Papers of Hiram Powers [manuscript] 1838-68.

The collection contains a sketch, 1845, of the heads of Jackson and Webster, and letters from Richard Henry Wilde, John Patterson Wilde, William Cumming Wilde, Niziero Nouvel, and Catherine A. Wilde. Richard Henry Wilde's letter discuss his current literary activities, events in the U.S. and Italy, Power's sculpture, particulrly Eve, and The Greek Slave, and a statue of Benjamin Franklin that Wilde has persuaded citizens of New Orleans to commission from Powers. Letters from Wilde's sons and sister mention his death from yellow fever, a medallion of him by Powers, and Wilde's title of nobility granted by Leopold II. Letters from Nouvel, Wilde's illegitimate Italian son seek recognition and aid from Powers and tell his desire to meet his other relatives.
