James apologizes for not thanking Fremen for a Christmas gift, citing the burden of other chores and two attacks of gout. He sends her a book and best wishes for the new year and asks her to come to lunch. The collection also contains an envelope fragment addressed to Miss Emma Hutter and identified by C.S. Hutter, Jr. as "Nesbitt envelope."
