Letters written by Dabney Carr Terrell and his sisters on social affairs in Albemarle County, Lexington, and Winchester, Va. Includes correspondence of Dabney Carr and of John A.G. Davis, first University of Virginia professor of law, discussing some early problems of the University. The collection also contains a letter from Albert Gallatin in Paris to Dabney Carr Terrell while a student at the University of Geneva; an unsigned copy by Martha Jefferson Trist Burke of a letter from Thomas Jefferson to Thomas Cooper; two letters from John Reuben Thompson to Eugene Davis; and a typewritten copy of Thompson's journal, Feb. 29 to Dec. 29, 1864.
