Marshall writes to his wife about his activities in Washington, D.C. He discusses his problems with influenza and accompanying symptons and his habit of walking three miles by seven. He mentions dinner with President Andrew Jackson and his niece Mrs. Donelson who "is I believe quite popular, but not so popular as Mrs. Madison was."
