Papers of Ellen Glasgow [manuscript], ca. 1877-1974.

The collection includes the poem "To Josephine," ca. 1898; postcards from Mary Johnston to Miss Glasgow and Cary Gholson Glasgow McCormack; and a scrapbook of old master paintings assembled for her niece, Josephine Glasgow Clark. Also, family photographs and prints including a commercial strike of a woodcut by Julius J. Lankes of Miss Glasgow's home in Richmond, Virginia with a presentation inscription; two cards signed by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings; newspaper and magazine clippings containing reviews of her books; and articles pertaining to her life and career. There are also papers from the October 19-20, 1973 Glasgow symposium at Mary Baldwin College (Staunton, Va.). Other material pertains to her life in Castine, Maine, to members of her family, and to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
