Papers of Louis J. Halle [manuscript], 1957-1991.

The collection consists chiefly of the correspondence, 1973-1991, between Halle and Kenneth Thompson and concerns the publication of Halle's books including one edited with Thompson "Foreign policy and the democratic process: The Geneva papers." Other topics include United States foreign policy, arms negotiations and an analysis of the conduct of government by career vs. political appointees. Jimmy Carter is a topic as is Franklin D. Roosevelt who is discussed in a letter to Kenneth R. Crispell who was researching a book on presidential health. With the letters are typescripts of his book "Elements of strategy," several articles and a book review by Staige Blackford on the Indian novels of M.M. Kaye.
