Correspondence of Alexander Gordon Gilliam [manuscript], 1925-1934.

The collection contains thirteen letters, 1925-1931, from Gilliam to his brother, Richard Davenport Gilliam, regarding life at the University of Virginia including fraternity pledging, the honor system, student drinking, and expansion of the student body. Armistead Boothe, Julien Green and John Powell are mentioned. There is also a lengthy letter from R. D. Gilliam assessing the contributions the University makes to the life of the students. In addition six letters, 1934, discuss fund raising to prevent foreclosure on the mortgage for Beta Theta Pi's chapter house.
