In a letter, dated January 7, 1946, to Mr. Halter, White describes various editions of "One man's meat," and discusses the definition of edition. In a letter, dated November 12, 1952, to Clayton Hoagland, White states he is not planning a sequel to "Stuart Little" despite "threatening" letters from children.

American author and humorist E.B. White was born in Mount Vernon, N.Y., and graduated from Cornell. After graduation he worked on odd jobs and travelled; while working as a copywriter, he submitted some essays to the newly founded New Yorker, which led to his long-term relationship with the magazine.
