Letters to the Misses Betty P. and M. Louise Cocke [manuscript], 1930-1938.

Freeman writes to the Misses Cocke re: Civil War letters and manuscripts of their grandfather, Philip St. George Cocke, to be used in researching his books, "R.E. Lee, a biography," and "Lee's lieutenants, a study in command." Freeman mentions his belief that Cocke was "largely responsible for the plan of operations that led to the great victory at First Manassas."
