This volume, bound in tooled red leather and in several hands, contains original and copied writings and original works of art, such as drawings in pencil, watercolors, and engravings by the Storer family and others. The bulk of entries and contributions span from 1829 to 1834 with some leaves dated between 1870 and 1883. Ann Storer introduces the volume with a poem on the first leaf, inviting friends and family to contribute their art and prose. The verso of the first end paper has a table of contents. Contributors to this commonplace book include James S. Storer, Ann, Henry S., Salina, Sarah, and Elizabeth Storer; content comprises prose, poetry, illustrations, watercolors, and some portraits, with several images of Cambridge, and flora and fauna. There are some clippings pasted on the inside front cover and pasted in the volume. Also included are autographs of James Henry Lambier by his portrait with Tom Thumb; Moroccan scholar, Moses ben Issac Edrehi (ca. 1774-ca. 1842), who has signed under his portrait; and Thomas Mortimer from Ceylon, with a writing on the facing page of his portrait. Among other entries James S. Storer includes a watercolor and information on the upas tree of Java. Ann's contributions include poems, watercolors of birds, flowers, and images of Cambridge; there are also images and prose by Henry, Selina, Ernest, Elizabeth, and Sarah Storer. Other written copied entries include M.E. Pulling, Jane Taylor, Rev. John Blackburn, and several initialed. The ten leaves laid in the volume include an etching of a border by Ann Storer; a poem by Elizabeth Storer, an 1847 letter addressed to Miss Storer from William Arniss ; a writing about Cambridge dated 1829; and six leaves of clippings.
