Willie McKether collection, 2002-2005.

Includes the original materials compiled by Willie McKether in prepartion for his doctorial thesis at Wayne State University as well as a copy of his doctoral thesis. Interviews were conducted with more than 90 Saginaw residents during the years 2002-2003. The interviews are preserved in written transcripts, audio cassettes, beta videocassettes, audio compact discs, digital video discs and digital video cassettes. The interviewees reminisce about what it was like in Saginaw, Michigan for African Americans from 1920-1960. McKether investigates the reasons for the migration.

Willie McKether received his B.A. in economics from Grand Valley State University in 1984, his M.B.A. from Saginaw Valley State University in 1991 and his M.A. in Industrial Relations from Wayne State University. He received his Ph. D. in anthropology from Wayne State University in 2005. He serves as associate director of the Douglas A. Fraser Center for Workplace issues at Wayne State University and is an adjunct instructor in the Department of Antrhopology at Wayne State University. ...
