Biographical note: Eugene S. Ives, Tucson, Arizona attorney and politician, was born in Washington, D.C. in 1859. He moved to Arizona around 1895, first to Yuma, and then to Tucson in 1901. Soon after his arrival in Arizona he obtained a position as counsel for the Southern Pacific Railroad. In 1900, he was elected to the territorial legislature and he was an active member of the Arizona state Democratic Party.
