George Webber owned and operated the Des Moines radio station KWDM-AM (1150) from 1948 to 1959 and radio station KWDM-FM (93.3) from 1964 to 1969. He was a proponent of cultural diversity and tried to present music programming with a broad ethnic appeal. He married Edith L. Dunham, a book reviewer and program host for WHO radio station in Des Moines.
