George Webber owned and operated the Des Moines radio station KWDM-AM (1150) from 1948 to 1959 and radio station KWDM-FM (93.3) from 1964 to 1969. He was a proponent of cultural diversity and tried to present music programming with a broad ethnic appeal. He married Edith L. Dunham, a book reviewer and program host for WHO radio station in Des Moines. From 1942 to 1950 Edith hosted a program called "Have You Heard" sponsored by Younkers department store which offered commentary on books, fashion, food, famous Americans, notable women and Iowa pioneers as well as promotional segments for Younkers.
