George Prentice Lovell papers, 1897-1961.

The collection includes correspondence, ephemera and miscellaneous papers from George Lovell's time as a student at Norwich University. Later correspondence between Lovell and various faculty members and administrators at Norwich is also included as is poetry written by George Lovell. Also included are photographs from the early 20th century and from 1951, possibly taken on Lovell's return trips to Norwich for commencements or reunions. An undated photograph of Lovell with Professor Carl Woodbury is included as are several of members of the class of 1899 at a reunion, date unknown.

Originally from Yarmouth, ME, George Lovell graduated from Norwich University in the class of 1899 with a degree in civil engineering. He was a member of the Theta Chi fraternity and the Epsilon Tau Sigma honor society. He was salutatorian of his class. Following his graduation from Norwich, George Lovell worked for the Boston and Albany Railroad, the Sanborn Map Company, the New York Fire Insurance Exchange and the Perkins Brokerage Company in New York City.
