Pueblo art United States postage stamps, 1977.

Envelope with a block of four 13 cent stamps cancelled in Santa Fe, New Mexico, April 13, 1977. They are first day of issue. The stamps are paintings done by Ford Ruthling showing Pueblo pottery. The pottery includes a Hopi, Acoma, Zia and San Ildefonso vase. The vases are from the Heard Museum Phoenix Arizona, School of American Research, Museum of New Mexico, and the Denver Art Museum respectively. The envelope is addressed to U. Vincent Wilcox III at the Museum of the American Indian. Also included is a newspaper article by Samuel A. Tower discussing the stamps.

Fuller was born in Mass. on Aug. 13, 1787. He moved to N.Y. (State) where he served as a member of the N.Y. Assembly and Senate. In 1837 he moved to Adrian (Mich.), where he served as a Representative from Lenawee County and Speaker of the House, 1841. Fuller also served as Assist. Postmaster under Pres. Harrison.
