Col. John Hacket papers, 1799-1879.

Correspondence, receipts, invoices, tax bills, floor plans, legal papers, estate papers, and other documents, of Hacket, a carpenter in Middlebury, Vt., and later of Hancock, Vt., concerning personal finances, buildings worked on in Middlebury, his involvement with roads in Vermont, particularly the Centre Turnpike Co., a lawsuit (1817-1821) against the Vermont Glass Company, and the settlement of his estate.

Col. John Hacket (also found as John Hackett) moved to Middlebury, Vt., in 1806. He was a carpenter and worked on various buildings, including the Masonic Hall. He commanded a company of cavalry during the War of 1812. He moved to Hancock, Vt., between 1826-1828 and remained there for the rest of his life.
