Michael Harvey Malott was an Abilene, Kansas banker and founder of Bank of Malott and Company, later Citizens Bank, in 1885. Malott served as president of Citizens Bank from 1911 until a few years before his death, when he became chairman of the board. Malott died on February 18, 1952 in Abilene, Kansas. Howland Wood (1877-1938) was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and graduated from Brown University in 1900. He became a member of the ANS in 1909. By 1913 he had been appointed Curator, remaining in this position until his death in 1938. At that time, the Society only maintained a single curator, with two assistants. The AIA is an organization originally founded in Cambridge, Massachusetts by Harvard University professor Charles Eliot Norton and his friends and colleagues.
