The collection comprises newspaper and magazine articles, many of them by W.B. Combs and clipped from the "Dairy Record." Kept separately are clippings about the development of blue and Nuworld cheese, a collection of articles written by Combs, miscellaneous papers related to the Dept. of Dairy Husbandry, including a list of former students and information on making ice cream and cheese, and a small collection of materials written by C.H. Eckles, including three papers, and addresses written by Eckles as president of the American Dairy Science Assn.

Willes Combs was appointed to the University of Minnesota's Dept. of Dairy Husbandry in 1924 and worked there until his death in 1959. Among his contributions to the Minnesota dairy industry was his work in support of the blue cheese industry. He also worked in the development of Nuworld cheese. From the description of W. B.
