Truman Nodland was born in Iowa and completed both his B.S. and Ph. D. at the University of Minnesota College of Agriculture. He began working for the Dept. of Agricultural Economics during his undergraduate years and continued his entire career in that department, retiring in 1976. Nodland was active in the Minnesota Farm Manager's Assn, helped found and develop the Southeastern Farm Management Assn., served as an advisor to the Farmhouse Fraternity and was a member of its national board. The Minnesota Legislature in 1911 authorized the appropriation of $65,000 for the purchase of a demonstration and experiment farm near Duluth. At the August 10, 1911, University Board of Regents Agricultural Committee meeting, Dean Albert Woods of the University’s Department of Agriculture presented a recommendation for the purchase of a site owned by the Greysolon Farms Company.
