Begun in 1966, the Performing Arts History Committee was a group of Portland citizens interested in documenting the performing arts in Oregon, with an emphasis on music. Although not directly affiliated with any institution, the group met originally under the auspices of the Mutlnomah County Library and later became affiliated with the Oregon Historical Society.
