Performing Arts History Committee (Portland, Or.)

Begun in 1966, the Performing Arts History Committee was a group of Portland citizens interested in documenting the performing arts in Oregon, with an emphasis on music. Although not directly affiliated with any institution, the group met originally under the auspices of the Mutlnomah County Library and later became affiliated with the Oregon Historical Society. The original members were: Mrs. Richard L. (Mary) Rosenberg (chair), Mary Margaret Dundore, Susie Aubrey Smith, Mrs. Claud G. Farrow, Jr., David Campbell, Robert E. Fessenden, and Arthur C. Spencer. Mary Tobin Winch would later play an important role. The group was instrumental in creating the Performing Arts Collection at the Oregon Historical Society Research Library. It was also known as the Music Resource History Committee.
