Raymond Nicholas Bieter was born in Heron Lake, Minnesota on October 9, 1900. He attended the College of St. Thomas and the University of Minnesota, and studied at Johns Hopkins before returning to teach pharmacology at the University of Minnesota in 1931. Bieter became Head of the Pharmacology Dept. in 1942, and Asst. Dean of the Medical School and Director of Educational Services in 1962.
