The collection documents the organizational history and activities of the Michigan Child Study Association (MCSA), 1920-2003.The collection consists of correspondence; reports; programs; syllabi; scrapbooks; materials of disbanded clubs; newsletters; directories; histories; maps; booklets; materials of conferences, conventions, and planning program meetings; as well as White House Conference materials; photographs; and miscellaneous. Also included are a few earlier items, 1913 and 1917, from MCSA's parent organization, the Child Conservation League of America.

The Child Conservation League (CCL) was established in Mich. in 1920. It's purpose was the furthering of the study of child care, family relationships, and child welfare. Due to financial obligations of membership, CCL withdrew from its parent organization, the national Child Conservation League of America, and renamed itself the Michigan Federation of Child Conservation Council in 1922.
