Born January 7, 1845 in Caulderbank, Scotland, William Martin moved to Pittsburgh in 1870 and is largely remembered as an active and influential participant in the labor movement of the late 19th century. From 1878-1890 Mr. Martin served as Secretary Treasurer for the National Amalgamated Association of Iron and Steel Workers of the United States.
