History of the Boston Cooking School established 1879, 1884.

Established out of the Women's Education Association of Boston, the school's two-year vocational program trained women to earn their living as cooks (in private homes or institutions such as hospitals), or as cooking teachers in public or private schools. While intended to serve the needs of disadvantaged young women, scholarships were not available and tuition was charged. Mrs. Lincoln, who taught classes at the school, figures prominently in the account.
