Nathaniel A. Pratt legal papers, 1868-1879.

Documents and correspondence pertaining to the legal and business affairs of Dr. Pratt, including his efforts to purchase Magnolia Plantation from Rev. John G. Drayton, and difficulties with title to the property. In a letter of 28 June 1869, Henry D. Lesesne wrote to attorney James Simons that all of Drayton's muniments were destroyed during the war (the house was burned by Federal troops). Other documents concerning Magnolia Plantation include a plat showing the location of the destroyed dwelling house, "negro quarters," a barn, and other details.
