Written in England, 1832-1833 and 1839-1846; and South Africa, 1834-1835. Entries are very irregular. Consists almost entirely of anecdotes concerning the eleven children of astronomer John F.W. Herschel and Lady Herschel, including William James Herschel, who later became a pioneer of fingerprinting.
