Negative photocopy of a partial autobiography written by Mary Ann Stearns Winters, written in 1896. Winters recalls her birth and early childhood, including the death of her father and her life in Ohio with her mother, including their stay with the family of Brigham Young and blessings received from Joseph Smith. Winters also writes of traveling to New York on a mission with Parley Pratt. The autobiography ends with the birth of Winters' brother, Nathan, on August 31, 1838.

Mary Ann Stearns Winters was born on April 6, 1833, in Bethel, Maine. She was the only child of Nathan Stearns and Mary Ann Frost and later the stepdaughter of Parley Pratt. Winters' father died when she was five months old, and her mother joined the Church of Jesus Christof Latter-day Saints and traveled with the Mormons to Kirtland, Ohio.
