Charles Fraser fonds. 1915-1944.

The fonds consists of notebooks on marine observations, manuscripts, lecture notes, drawings and plates of sea life, and assorted pamphlets. Much of this material relates to Fraser's research on salmon. Also included are photographs taken during a collecting trip to the South Pacific. In addition, the fonds contains minutes of the British Columbia Industrial and Scientific Research Council (1944).

Charles McLean Fraser was born in Huron County, Ontario. After teaching in Ontario schools for several years, he went to the University of Toronto where he received his M.A. in 1903. He accepted a position as science master in a Nelson high school. Fraser's keen interest in marine life led him to the newly-established Pacific Biological Station at Nanaimo in 1908 and later on to graduate work at the University of Iowa.
