The court records include pleas, writs, complaints, judgment rolls, declarations, rough minutes, recognizances, and a few other papers. The correspondence and papers of the Tryon County Committee of Safety, 1775-1780, includes petitions of wives of Tories for relief, lists of inhabitants and freeholders, oaths of loyalty or neutrality, requests from settlers or towns for help against Indian attacks, newsletters from other Committees, requests for release from imprisonment, militia appointments, letters about the activities of Sir John Johnson and other loyalists or suspected persons, and papers about the disposition of property belonging to disaffected persons.
