Adjutant's book, 1811-1821, commencing when the regiment was known as the 2nd Regiment, New York State Artillery (it became the 9th Regiment in June of 1812). Included are rosters, division, brigade, battalion, regimental, general, and garrison orders; minutes of meetings of the board of officers; adjutant's reports; committee reports; reports and decisions of courts martial and courts of inquiry; returns of promotions and inspections; etc. Adjutants and commanding officers included Simon Fleet, James G. Forbes, John L. Morton, Thomas R. Mercein, Thomas Chrystie, Aaron Levy, Jacob Morton, Daniel D. Smith, Floyd Smith, Richard Kingsland, and others.

Richard Kingsland met Mmme Suzanne Vigneaux and her dog, in Paris in 1969 when he negotiated with her the sale of a Rupert Bunny painting. The meeting was the start of a long friendship, and Kingsland and Vigneaux corresponded for nearly 20 years. Kingsland later became Secretary of the Dept. of Veteran's Affairs.
