Papers, 1870-1912 (bulk 1870-1896).

The collection consists of 31 signed letters, all but two handwritten; two typewritten letters; and three newspaper clippings. Most of the letters and one clipping concern specimens of minerals, fossils, plants or animals sent by Treadwell to his correspondents. The two other newspaper clippings discuss the operations of the Vulture Mine, and one letter relates to another mine being opened. Correspondents include A.B. Baker at Ward's Natural Science Establishment; geologist William P. Blake; John Henry Comstock, a professor of entomology at Cornell University; James J. Rivers, a curator in the museum at the University of California, Berkeley; and Washington A. Roebling.
