Anna Lander West McDonnell was born in San Francisco, Calif. in 1876; her paternal uncles were Frederick West Lander, wagon road surveyor of the American West, and Edward Lander, Jr., first chief justice of the Supreme Court of Washington Territory. Her husband was Hugh McDonnell.
