This collection of contact prints and negatives primarily includes Alaskan vessels and shipwrecks. Robert N. "Bob" DeArmond compiled the collection from photographs copied from the Lloyd A. "Kinky" Bayer Collection and the Ralph E. MacKay collection. Other views of the Nome area, Juneau, Ft. Gibbon, Tanana, Ft. Hamlin, Valdez, mining activities, and aviation activities are included and were copied from the Dobbs, Lomen Bros., Simmer, Case & Draper, Winter & Pond, Partridge Bros., and D.D. Pittman photographs.

Lloyd H. "Kinky" Bayers was born July 6, 1911, in Juneau to Vera Soboleff Bayers and Harry "Tay Bayers" of Juneau. Seaman, captain, political activist, marine historian, and collector, he worked as a deckhand on the mail boat "Estebeth," for the Alaska Juneau Gold Mining Co., purchased the "M.V.
