The collection consists of six items, including five letters and an engraved portrait. The letters include: to Genl. Fox, 23 Oct. circa 1848, a companionable letter written for a friend; to Dear friend, 17 Mar. 1865, about writing articles on English nurses; to Mr. Aspland, 25 July, returning materials she borrowed to revise a manuscript; to Dear sir, 2 Mar., with information and instruction concerning the books she is working on; to Mrs. Jameson, declining an invitation with news of her social life. Also, engraved portrait of Harriet Martineau seated at a desk writing.
