Materials used in researching and writing The Black Hawk War, includes muster rolls with the majority coming from Whiteside's brigade, property rolls, orders, reports and commissions. Correspondence with descendents of Black Hawk War veterans, mainly re: obtaining photos of the veterans. Other correspondence includes that with John F. Snyder who discusses Lincoln's involvement in and other aspects of the war. Also includes items re: Stephen A. Douglas including a nine page memoir of him by his life long friend George C. Bates.
