Founded under the auspices of the Daughters of the American Revolution of Illinois and incorporated August 29, 1916 for the purpose of establishing a Lincoln memorial by placing permanent markers along the highways of the old eighth judicial circuit over which Abraham Lincoln and his associates traveled when regularly attending court.
