Record group RG 83-35 consists of two sets of records of the Michigan Board of Dentistry. The first set of records relate to the licensing of dentists (ca. 1934-71). Consists of the following material on dentists who have retired, deceased, or had their licenses revoked: application for state licensure examination, photograph, enrollment slip, school of dentistry where graduated from, dental school transcripts, Board proceedings and license number. The second set of records relate to the licensing of dental hygienists (ca. 1947-73). Consists of the following material on dental hygienists who have retired, deceased, or had their licenses revoked: application for state licensure examination, photograph, enrollment slip, dental hygienist school transcripts, and license number.

Act 122, PA 1939 provided for, among other things, the regulation of the practice of dentistry, dental surgery and dental hygiene by the Michigan Board of Dentistry. The Board is responsible for the examination, licensing, registration and determination of penalties for violations of the act.
