Letter, 1842, to Col. William S. Prentice in Shelbyville, Ill., discusses politics and "Douglas" and states the race is between Douglas and Breese, both of whom he hates to see leave the bench. Judge Treat's signed opinion in Garrett vs. Griggs, undated. Letter, 1874, from Jesse Hildrup, Illinois Representative from Boone County, to "Friend Benjamin" discussing "railroad litigation" and states that he hopes "old Judge Treat will remit the case to our state" but he "is too old & fogyish and too far away from the people to believe that they have any rights which the corporations are bound to respect."
