Report to Secretary of the Treasury, William H. Crawford, "to the purpose of opening and improving roads and making canals" in Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois. Gives description of the land, rivers, lakes and other physical attributes in the area surveyed. Gives opinions and suggestions. Also gives an outline of "probable expense" as well as location and length of each road, and location, length, and depth for each canal. In handwriting of chief clerk for the Surveyor General, Samuel Williams.
